The Tale of the Stoker
Ödön Széchenyi was the first person to reach Paris from Pest-Buda via Europe’s rivers and canals on his steamship, the Mermaid.
Through the narration of the stoker of the Mermaid, this film unveils Ödön Széchenyi’s journey from Pest to Paris, starting with the cumbersome departure and ending with the triumphant arrival, when he managed received the Order of the Legion of Honor from Napoleon III as one of the main attractions at the Paris World Fair. The animation aims to evoke the atmosphere of the era, including authentic city silhouettes.
