The Frontier Fortress of Tisza – Szolnok
One of our rare 3D castle reconstruction animations, which tells the story of the construction of Szolnok fortress – and perhaps even more interestingly – the 16th-century techniques of building earthen fortifications.
The film reconstructs Szolnok during the Turkish occupation based on contemporary sources, archaeological excavations, and historical analogies. We can see the fortress from a bird’s-eye view and also learn about the structure of its walls. All in all, the most important lesson: if you want to build an earthen fortress, the first thing you’ll need is a forest to chop down!
