This five-part animated series tells the story of the creation of the frescoes in the Sümeg Parish Church, from the initial idea to overcoming challenges and arriving at the magnificent completion.
The disgraced Bishop of Veszprém, Márton Padányi Bíró, wanted to create a great work of art in his retirement at Sümeg, and he found the right partner in the talented painter Franz Anton Maulbertsch. The charming yet informative sequences are accompanied by poetic narration that “paints” the story, revealing the principles of rococo church painting.
